Abstract:

Wavelet transformation is one of the most practical mathematical transformations in the field of image processing, especially image and signal processing. Depending on the nature of the multiresolution analysis, Wavelet transformation become more accessible and powerful tools. In this paper, we refer to the mathematical foundations of this transformation.   Introduction: The wavelet transform has been proven effective for image analysis, data compression and feature extraction. This linear transform is a powerful tool for time (space)-frequency analysis of signals, especially images. The expansion of a signal into several frequency channels generates a joint representation in time and frequency domains. The wavelet transform does provide a multiresolution decomposition and representation of an image at given resolutions. It is computed by expanding a signal into a family of functions which are the dilations and translations of a unique function called the basic wavelet. It is also interpreted as a decomposition into a set of frequency channels having the same bandwidth on a logarithmic scale.   Materials and Methods: Using a one-dimensional wavelet transform and its mathematical foundations, the effect on the image resolution was compared to the short time Fourier transform.   Results: In the transformation of the wavelet, the finite signal does not convert the Fourier transform, and thus the individual peaks or, in other words, the negative frequencies are not calculated.   Conclusion:   The continuous wavelet transform can be presented as an alternative to the short time Fourier transform, and aims to resolve the resolution problems.

Image Compression Method Based on QR-Wavelet ‎Transformation

In this paper, a procedure is reported that discuss how linear algebra can be used in image compression. The basic idea is that each image can be represented as a matrix. We apply linear algebra (QR ‎factorization and wavelet ‎transformation ‎algorithm‏s) on this matrix and get a reduced matrix out such that the image corresponding to this reduced matrix requires much less storage space than th...

3 - D Haar Wavelet Transformation in Java

Internet has connected different parts of the world through a network link. Researchers in bioinformatics and biology have always wanted to share information for the progress of their research. But the data, they wanted to transfer are large-scale data sets which cannot be transferred over the existing network link in a considerable amount of time. Hence, methods to compress these large volumes...

Steganography in image using discrete wavelet transformation

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm of steganography to allow simultaneous hiding secret message and small-size image into an large-size image. To hide the secret message in small image we use the Least Significant Bit (LSB) substitution, and the method for hiding the image in the image cover use Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT). The proposed method results in increasing the secret m...

Scientific Data Compression Through Wavelet Transformation

Scientific data gathered from simulation or real measurement usually requires 64 bit floating point numbers to retain accuracy. Unfortunately, these numbers do not lend themselves to traditional compression techniques, such as run-length or entropy encoding used in most general compression schemes. A different approach is to recognize that a reversible signal transformation can encode the infor...

Fast Discrete Wavelet Transformation Daubechies-Four Architecture

A DSP engine for discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) is introduced in this paper. Serial processing DWT architecture provides a better speed and efficiency, makes DWT better choice for image processing than DCT. A dedicated hardware DWT architecture attached to a general purpose microprocessor provided the programmability of data access make possible for dynamic scheduling for various DSP app...
